Dictation stops getting stuck on “Listening…”
- FixedReleasing fn could be missed entirely. macOS switches an app's key watcher off under load, and Fazit was not listening for that, so it went deaf between your key going down and coming up. It now switches it straight back on.
- FixedA session interrupted that way is finished rather than abandoned: you get the words you already said, instead of the indicator sitting on Listening with nothing able to stop it.
- ImprovedA backstop ends any session that has run far longer than a sentence, so the microphone can never be left open by a release nobody saw.

Apple Notes and calendar features work on signed builds again
- FixedWriting a note to Apple Notes was refused by macOS on every signed build. Apple Notes is the default for new installs, so a first note could have nowhere to land.
- FixedMeeting reminders, the meeting cost priced from your real invite list, and the follow-up event Fazit offers to create were all refused for the same reason.
- ImprovedThe cause was a packaging gap rather than anything in the features themselves: macOS needs a permission declared in the app itself, not only a reason shown to you, and the declarations had not kept up as these features were added.

Say when fn dictation is switched off
- FixedWhen macOS has not granted Fazit permission to watch the keyboard, the menu now says so and offers a button that grants it. Before, fn simply did nothing: the app knew the permission was missing and never told anyone.
- NewDouble-tap fn to keep dictation running until you tap again, for anything longer than a comfortable hold. The indicator tells you which mode you are in.
- ImprovedThe listening indicator now appears on the screen your pointer is on rather than picking the wrong display.

Take notes, straight from the meeting reminder
- NewMeeting reminders. A notification appears just before each meeting in your calendar with a Take notes button. Click it and Fazit captures the call, or waits and starts the moment it begins.
- ImprovedThis is for the calls Fazit cannot hear starting: dialling in late, joining muted to listen, or a call happening on another device. It still starts on its own whenever it can hear one.
- ImprovedYour calendar is read on this Mac and the reminder is posted by your Mac to itself. Nothing is sent anywhere, and it stays off until you switch it on.

What your calls add up to
- NewInsights tab. Calls captured, hours in meetings and what that time cost, plus your average call length, the people you have spoken with, your busiest day and a twelve-week activity grid.
- ImprovedIt is read from your own notes rather than from usage tracking, so there is nothing new being recorded and no second copy of anything. Delete a note and it leaves these totals too.

Hold fn, and the menu sits still
- FixedHold-fn dictation now sees the key reliably. macOS assigns the 🌐 key itself by default, which swallowed the press before Fazit could see it. Fazit watches at a lower level now, and tells you if macOS still has the key, with a button straight to the right setting.
- FixedThe menu no longer shows empty translucent bands above and below itself while a note is being written. It was keeping the height of a taller screen instead of shrinking to fit.

Hold-to-dictate stops silently breaking
- FixedHold-fn dictation could stop working after an update. macOS ties the keyboard permission to the app's signature, which changes with every release, so the entry already sitting in System Settings no longer matched and Fazit was not allowed to see the fn key.
- ImprovedFazit now tells you when that has happened instead of doing nothing, and explains the fix: remove Fazit from Privacy & Security → Accessibility and add it back. It picks the permission up within seconds, with no restart.

- ImprovedThe download is open to everyone. You no longer have to create an account before you can see the app work, and the download page walks you through the three steps after it.
- FixedAutomatic updates work again. Update downloads were being signed with your licence, which meant any build older than that change could never update itself and showed a bare “Update Error” instead.

Meeting cost, priced from the real invite list
- NewMeeting cost can price the real invite list. Your Google or Exchange invites already sync into macOS Calendar, so Fazit reads the current meeting from there and counts everyone who did not decline.
- NewConnect BambooHR and each attendee is priced at their real hourly cost instead of a flat rate. Pay is turned into an hourly figure the moment it arrives and is never stored, and the note records what the meeting cost in total, never what anyone earns.
- ImprovedCalendar reading is off until you switch meeting cost on, and it asks then rather than at launch. Where your calendar is on the Mac already, nothing is sent anywhere at all.

Your past calls, in the app
- NewHistory tab: your finished calls, newest first, with search. Pick one to read the note, and unfold the full transcript underneath it.
- ImprovedIt reads the notes already in your vault rather than keeping a second copy. There is no new database and nothing extra is stored, so deleting a note in Obsidian removes it here too.
- ImprovedTabs only appear between calls. While a call is being captured or written up there is one thing on screen, so a session can never end up hidden behind a tab.

What is this meeting costing?
- NewLive meeting cost. Set your hourly rate in Settings and a running total appears next to the call timer, counting up while you talk. Adjust the number of people on the call and it follows along.
- NewThe cost lands in the note, next to the date and duration, so the number is still there next week when you are deciding whether that call needs to be a weekly.
- ImprovedIt works from rates you set, not from anyone's payroll. Nothing is looked up, nothing is uploaded, and the figures stay on your Mac like everything else here.

Your licence, properly enforced
- FixedApp updates are now delivered only to a Mac with a valid licence or trial. The update files used to sit on the public site, which meant the app itself could be downloaded without an account even though the download page required one.
- ImprovedActivating a Mac now shows a short code in both Fazit and your browser, so you can see the two match. If someone ever sends you an activation link, a code that does not match tells you it is not yours.
- FixedA pending activation can no longer be claimed by a different account, and the welcome and setup pages now require you to be signed in.

Hold fn to talk. Calls wrap themselves up.
- NewDictate anywhere. Hold fn in any app, speak, release, and Fazit types it into whatever field had focus. It cleans up the stutters and adds the punctuation, but never rewrites you. Speech is recognised on this Mac and the audio is never saved, same as your calls.
- NewCalls now end on their own. When you leave a meeting, Fazit notices and writes the note straight away, so there is nothing to press when you hang up. Muting yourself or a long silence will not end a session, because it watches the call app rather than listening for quiet.
- ImprovedOne less thing to choose: the note style dropdown is gone from the menu. Fazit already finds the call app by itself, and your note style lives in Settings.

Tighter licensing, same quiet trial
- ImprovedEntitlement checks are now cryptographically verified end to end, so only genuinely issued trials and licenses unlock capture.
- ImprovedTrial timing is tamper-resistant: it tracks real elapsed time rather than trusting the system clock, so it can't be extended by changing the date.

Setup downloads at full speed
- FixedThe automatic Ollama download stalled at around 2% and then failed on fresh installs: it was being read one byte at a time on the interface thread until the connection timed out. It now uses the system's native downloader: straight to disk, full speed, done in the time your connection allows.
- FixedWhen a setup download failed, reopening the menu showed the plain “Install Ollama for me” button again with no explanation. Failures now stay on screen with what went wrong and a Try again button.

Sign in, and it sets itself up
- NewAutomatic setup: the moment your trial activates, Fazit installs Ollama, starts it, and downloads the note model on its own, with staged progress in the menu and no buttons to press. Skip anytime with “Set up later”; the only downloads are still Ollama.app and the model, from ollama.com.
- NewFresh installs now save notes to Apple Notes by default, so there is nothing to configure before your first call. Point Fazit at an Obsidian vault (or both) in Settings anytime.
- FixedMenu buttons are readable again on the latest macOS: the washed-out translucent buttons in the dropdown now use Fazit's own solid style.
- ImprovedIf Ollama isn't running when Fazit starts, it's started for you automatically, so notes can never silently fail against a stopped model runner.

Hour-long calls, handled
- FixedLong calls (35+ minutes) no longer produce a note with no summary: the transcript was silently overflowing the local model's context window. Fazit now understands the call in parts and writes the note from the full picture, however long the meeting ran.
- NewThe after-call screen shows exactly what's happening: transcribing → understanding what was said (with part-by-part progress on long calls) → writing → saving.
- NewIf note generation fails, your transcript is saved to your notes immediately, so nothing is ever lost, and a Retry button regenerates the note from it.

Notes that only say what was said
- FixedSummaries are now grounded: Fazit extracts what was genuinely said first, then writes the note from those facts, so it stops inventing decisions, action items, dates, or a follow-up email a call didn't contain. Sections with nothing to report are simply left blank.
- ImprovedAn empty section is now correct: a brief or casual call produces a short, honest note instead of a padded one, with no manufactured business narrative.

Starts itself. Reads clean.
- NewAuto-start: when a call begins, Fazit starts capturing on its own, no second click. If what it saw turns out not to be a real call (a preview screen, a quick voice search), it silently discards itself with no note left behind. Switch back to “ask first” in Settings anytime.
