Fazit separates conversation content from account and product operations. The two lanes are different on purpose.
A — Call content stays on your Mac
Transcription and note generation run locally on your device. Audio is held only in memory for that purpose, then discarded. User audio, transcripts, and finished notes are not uploaded to Fazit for note-writing. Notes are written as text files you control (for example your Obsidian vault or Apple Notes).
B — Account, licensing, updates, and optional analytics
To run the product and the website we process limited personal data in the cloud, including account email, trial/license state, device identifiers used for entitlement, purchase metadata from our payment provider, transactional email, and — if you leave product analytics on in Settings — coarse, content-free usage events (feature names and counts, never note text or transcripts). The desktop app may also contact our servers for entitlement checks and software updates, and may download speech-model weights from public CDNs on first use.
Separately from those optional analytics, the app counts installs. At most once a day on launch it sends two things: the same opaque per-install identifier used for licensing, and the app version. It sends no feature usage, no note text, no transcripts, and never your email. This one count runs whether or not you turn product analytics on, because without it we cannot tell an app nobody installed from an app nobody shares stats from. You can block it with any outbound firewall, and the app keeps working normally if it never gets through.
C — Processors (high level)
Depending on the feature, data may be handled by hosting and edge infrastructure (Vercel), database hosting (Neon), transactional email (Resend), payments / merchant of record (Lemon Squeezy), website and product analytics (Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics and PostHog), and public CDNs for model weights. Call audio and transcripts are not sent to these services for transcription or note generation.
The marketing site may use privacy-respecting analytics and performance measurement. Cookie-based website analytics load only after you accept the analytics category where a consent banner is shown. You can turn desktop product analytics off under Settings → Improve Fazit.
Website analytics includes session replay through PostHog: a reconstruction of how a page was used, so we can see where people get stuck. It records only after you accept the analytics category, every form field is masked before anything leaves your browser so what you type is never captured, and it is switched off entirely on your account, activation and post-purchase pages. It runs on the website only. It cannot and does not record the Fazit app, where your calls are.
This summary describes current product behavior in plain language. It is not a complete Article 13 notice for every jurisdiction; registered entity details and full retention schedules will be published as the company formalizes. For access or deletion requests regarding account data we hold, email hello@re-entry.ai.
